Born in Lexington, South Carolina, Madison McNair is a recent graduate from Converse University earning a BFA in Studio Art and a minor in Art History. She is primarily a ceramicist but also has an interest in textiles and printmaking. McNair has recently presented her solo senior exhibition at Milliken Gallery on the Converse campus. This is a location she is familiar with, having shown work in the 2024 Annual Juried Show winning first place for some of her clay sculptures. The comprehensive body of work created for McNair’s thesis exhibition focuses on the long-term impact of growing up with untreated mental illness. McNair employs various glazes, acrylic paint, and stoneware clay to render her sculptures. Since graduating, McNair has been delving into the world of textiles, exploring how her work can evolve into soft sculpture.
